There is always much to do while staying in Mollymook, Milton, Ulladulla and surrounding areas.

The Morton and Budawang National Parks together with numerous other forests virtually edge the sea with a narrow ribbon of undulating pastoral settlements occasionally breaking where the blue of the sea meets the green wilderness. They contain many scenic sites easily accessible to tourists. The local Tourist Information centre has plenty of maps available.

Alternatively, there are more leisurely coastal family activities including walks by the lakes where pelicans and other sea birds glide over calm waters. Milton Theatre (temporarily closed) provides live gigs.

The coastline offers many secluded and safe beaches with solft white sand, crystal clear water and endless strolls invesgating sandstone sea ledges and fascinating rockpools. All year round dolphins can be seen gently cruising off shore as they make their way up and down the coast. Bird life and wildlife are abundant, Where else in Australia can you see relatively tame kangaroos bounding along the seashort than at Bawley Point, Kioloa and of course famous Pebbly Beach.

There are many wonderful havens and secret places scattered throughout the district including beaches, lakes and rivers favoured by enthusiasts of surfing, snorkelling, sailing, boating, bushwalking, camping and fishing.

Keep on the lookout for the whales at Mollymook, Narrawallee and Ulladulla beaches and of course Ulladulla lighthouse from August to November. During the summer months Narrawallee, North Mollymook and Mollymook beaches are patrolled.

Of course, it is a beautiful area in which to simply relax and take a stroll on the beach or enjoy fishing, surfing, water skiing, bushwalking, lakes and beaches. There is a saltwater seapool at Ulladulla Harbour for all to enjoy.

Pigeon House Mountain Didthul Walking Track

Pigeon House Mountain Didthul Walking Track

Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track is one of the best walks in Morton National Park and on the south coast. The walk is in the park’s southern section. The walk is pretty steep in parts, but terrific views make it worthwhile.

You’ll hike through forest, heathland and age-old sandstone before coming to the best part, negotiating a series of ladders that lead you to the summit and the view.

Take in the captivating sight of cliffs and gorges within the Budawang Wilderness, all carved by the Clyde River. On clear days, you may be able to see as far as Jervis Bay and Bermagui. You might even spot a lyrebird along the final portion of the track, where you can also check out rare Pigeon House Ash eucalypts.

Enjoy some lunch at the top of the mountain, or head back down to the picnic area at the start of the walk for a well-deserved lunch.

Visit the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service website for more details on this walking track and others in the local area.

Rick Stein at Bannisters

Rick Stein at Bannisters

Their restaurant is a reflection of Rick's passion for seafood and the coastal lifestyle which he has enjoyedfor most of his life. As he says: "nothing is so exhilarating as fresh fish, simply cooked". He believes that fresh seafood should speak for itself.

While he enjoys occasional fine dining, his food is much more about what he really likes to eat: a plate of Clyde River oysters, a pot of Illawarra prawns with mayonnaise, a mound of spanner crab, a slice of blue eye or a perfectly grilled sand whiting.
